DCZia Mk9 Badge

**Pre-order — Badges are getting final assembly and our programmers are hard at work getting the code into shape.

The DCZia Mk9 is a fully functional 3×3 mechanical macropad badge. Nine mechanical switches, per-key RGB lighting, ambient underglow, accelerometer, SAO support, and support for QMK firmware - all in a package you can wear around your neck or set on your desk and actually use.

NOTE part of this badge is to be assembled by you - namely adding the switches and the battery box. Everything else is assembled and tested. Bring your own switches/keys if you'd like!

What's in the box

  • Mk9 Badge
  • 3 AAA batteries
  • 9 Cherry MX style key switches
  • 9 translucent blue key caps
  • A SAO addon board that can support up to 3 more key switches OR an OLED display (display not included)
  • Lanyard
  • Sticker

Features

Macropad

  • 3×3 mechanical key grid — nine fully programmable keys with translucent blue keycaps (standard MX footprint - swap them for any keycap you like)
  • QMK firmware support - full keymap customization, layers, macros, and more
  • Sits flat on a desk - includes a base so it works as an everyday macropad

Lighting

  • 9× WS2812 addressable RGB LEDs - per-key underglow beneath each switch
  • 6× SK6812 side-firing LEDs - mounted under the board with a diffuser for ambient light out the sides and back

Hardware

  • RP2040 microcontroller
  • 3-axis accelerometer
  • 2× SAO connectors - expand with the badge add-on ecosystem
  • USB-C connectivity - plug in for power and data
  • 3× AAA battery power - run it untethered; a power switch controls battery-mode operation
  • Reset button + Boot button - easy firmware flashing

Firmware

  • Circuit Python - The firmware shipped with the badge will be CircuitPython based
  • Support for QMK - The hardware was designed to support easy QMK flashing so you can re-program it to be a complete QMK-based macropad. We will have instructions later.

Open Source

DCZia is committed to open source hardware and software. All design files and firmware are publicly available.
